March 22, 2021
There has been some confusion regarding assessment requirements for the class of 2020/2021. In the 2019/2020 school year FLDOE did waive all assessments for the Spring of 2020, they also waived the FSA ELA and Algebra 1 EOC graduation requirements for 2019/2020 seniors only. This did not waive the FSA ELA or the Algebra 1 EOC for any other cohort group.
As a result, both the FSA ELA and Algebra 1 EOC are graduation requirements for students graduating in Spring of 2021. There are several possible ways to receive credit for these graduation requirements.
1. Students can take FSA ELA and Algebra 1 EOC receiving a proficiency level of 3 for both tests
2. Students can take the ACT or SAT School Day test and receive a concordant score for both FSA ELA and Algebra 1 EOC (given at all high schools this spring)
3. Seniors can take the ACT and SAT Non-College Reportable and receive a concordant score for both FSA ELA and Algebra 1 EOC (given at all high schools this spring)
4. Students can take the PSAT/NMSQT to receive an Algebra 1 EOC concordant score
5. Students can take the Geometry EOC and score a proficiency level of 3 to receive credit for the Algebra 1 EOC
Students do not have to sit for the FSA ELA or Algebra 1 EOC to use a concordant score as a graduation requirement.
If you have any questions regarding your child’s graduation requirements please do not hesitate to call the Assessment Office, our number is listed below.
